Fall Events in Vancouver

Fall is officially here and it is easy to stay in the comforts of your own home but there are still lots of free and low cost events taking place in Metro Vancouver.

Arts & Trade Shows/ Fairs

Cinephiles rejoice as the 33rd annual Vancouver International Film Festival starts Thursday September 25th to October 10th. Lots of movies and short films to see this fall.

Culture Days 2014 is happening September 26th to 28th all over B.C. Over 525 free events to raise awareness and participation in the arts and culture community.

It is the last Shipyards Night Market of 2014 at Shipbuilders’ Square in North Vancouver. On Friday, September 26th from 5-10pm enjoy great food from food trucks in “food alley”, live music, and shop for local products. A great way to stay warm this fall is to have a tummy full of delicious food.

Do you love handmade or vintage items? You may already know about ESTY: Made in Canada Market– Vancouver edition happening at the Ice Rink in Robson Square this Saturday (27th) from 10-5pm where you can peruse for potential Christmas gifts or presents for yourself.

Thinking about travelling or volunteering abroad? Attend the Study & Go Abroad Fair this Saturday (27th) at the Vancouver Convention Centre (East) to learn more! Free Admission. Think of escaping the cool fall weather for warm tropical destinations.

Engaged or you just love everything bridal, then stop by the Vancouver Wedding & Honeymoon Fall Show on Sunday (28th) at the Vancouver Convention Centre (East). Tickets are $12 but brides can get in free. Check their website for details.

Music fans

Dubbed a Bollywood extravaganza with singers and actors are coming to Vancouver at the Pacific Coliseum for one night of music named Slam, The Tour (STT) on Saturday, September 27th. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to BC Children’s hospital.

Vancouver Opera is bringing the highly popular Carmen back on Saturday September 27th. Catch the world’s sexiest opera until October 5th. The show is in French with English translations projected above.

Sports fans

You know it’s fall when hockey season starts. We in Metro Vancouver are lucky to have an NHL and WHL team. Both teams are in action this Friday, September 26th:

The second preseason game has the Vancouver Canucks facing the Calgary Flames at Rogers Arena or you can check out the Vancouver Giants at the Pacific Coliseum face off against the 2013 Western Hockey League champions, the Portland Winterhawks.

Not into hockey, then maybe check out MLS soccer when the Vancouver Whitecaps take on Real Salt Lake at BC Place on Saturday September 27th. Whitecaps are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and need a win.

If none of these events interest you, then stay in , catch up with a good book or tv show and spend the time on your favorite chair or couch.

Now there seems to be too much to do! Whatever you decide, make the most of it as Monday always seems to be around the corner.
