FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is your hourly rate?
Ashton Service Group operates with an upfront price for the entire job. The advantages are that they are no surprises and the client approves the work before any work is done. There are no additional or hidden charges after the fact regardless of how long it takes to complete the work.

2. What are the signs of a plumbing problem?
The easiest way to detect a plumbing problem is the presence of dripping water or waste coming from the lines. However, changes in water temperature or pressure could also be signs that something is amiss. Give us a call at 604-283-2383 if you are experiencing any of the above issues.

3. What are the dangers of do-it-yourself plumbing?
If you do not have the training or skills, trying to tackle a plumbing job on your own can result in wasted money, energy, and time. Rarely do homeowners have the expertise  to tackle their plumbing issues. Sometimes, it ends up costing the homeowners more in the long run to get it repaired or fix by a professional plumber who has to redo the work before being able to fix the initial problem.

4. What are the long-term risks of ignoring a plumbing problem?
A plumbing problem that is ignored is more likely to become a plumbing disaster, since minor leaks and sealing problems only become worse over time and in a worse case scenario may result in mould and structural damage.

5. What are the advantages of tankless vs tank water heaters?
Tankless water heaters are the better option in almost every regard, since they are more eco-friendly units that waste less water and use less energy. There are rebates available. Tankless water heaters are best for households with many people as your home will not run out of hot water for showers or doing a load of dishes again.

6. How do you keep roots out of the main sewer line?
The only thing you can do is snake out the drain and get it clear as possible and this should be done on an annual basis to avoid expensive repairs.

7. Why do I need an annual preventative maintenance agreement?
A plumbing maintenance agreement gives you the peace of mind that your plumbing system is operating both reliably and efficiently. Our annual inspection identifies potential problems before they become inconvenient and costly emergencies. We will save you money by locating and repairing any leaks within your plumbing system. We also do annual furnace tuneups and maintenance on your furnace or boiler to ensure they are working at their optimal capacity.

We have a service plan available that includes a free annual maintenance that we will phone you to schedule so you do not have to worry.

8. How can I prevent clogged drains?
Cover drains with strainers to trap hair and debris. Don’t put food in the drain unless you have a garburator. Liquid fat can coagulate and clog the drain, so let it cool and solidify, then dispose of it in the garbage.

9. Are you open on weekends?

Our office is closed on Saturday and Sunday but we have Ashton operators answering the phones 24/7. We also accept pre-booked Saturday appointments for those people who are unable to take time off work during the weekday (subject to availability).

10. Do you work in White Rock?

We have over 25 trucks and operate all over the Lower Mainland. Our head office/command center is in Richmond and we can dispatch and send our technicians to White Rock, Coquitlam, Burnaby, or Delta. Visit our About Us section and view the map of the areas we serve if you are uncertain.
