warm dogYou may think it is too early to even think of your furnace or heating your home but for heating companies like us; late summer and early fall is the time we start performing furnace tune-ups. People are starting to realize that having a regular/annual furnace tune-up is important to the energy efficiency/performance and life expectancy of their furnace. Proactive individuals schedule their furnace tune-ups before a cold snap hits to avoid running into a situation where they have no heat in their Vancouver area home when it is needed.  As well during a cold spell, we see a large spike in calls and unfortunately we may not be able to get to everyone when they need us.

Benefits of Regular Furnace Tune-Ups:

1. Improved efficiency: Your furnace can only live up to its manufacturer’s expectations if it’s well maintained. Most heating technicians will say dirt is the biggest culprit of causing your furnace to not be energy efficient. As dirt accumulates on important components like the motor, air handler or the heat exchanger, it creates friction causing the furnace to consume more energy and increasing regular wear and tear. As efficiency decreases, your furnace’s ability to generate heat does too. Excessive dirt doesn’t just hinder your furnace’s ability to produce heat, too much dirt and grime on your furnace’s air handlers will reduce its ability to circulate heated air throughout the home. When this starts to happen, you may notice that some of the rooms in your home aren’t as warm as they once were.

2. Extended life: Typically, a new furnace system will generally last around 15 years. But keep in mind that manufacturers assign these expected life spans under the assumption that the furnace will be in ideal conditions and is regularly serviced and maintained. A clean, well looked after heating system, is less likely to experience basic wear and tear or component failure, keeping repair costs low and your energy savings high by not having to replace your furnace earlier than expected.

If you recently had your furnace replaced it may still be under a manufacturer’s warranty. It is especially important for to get an annual furnace tune-up. Most manufacturer’s warranty state that the warranty becomes void if the furnace is not regularly maintained. A furnace tune-up will meet this requirement, maintaining your warranty and if you ever need to

All the benefits of a furnace tune-up means two things to you: keeping you and your family safe and saving you money.
