How we do a drain camera inspection

1) Schedule

Contact us online or call 604-283-2383 to schedule your camera inspection. Before your plumber arrives, you'll get an email with their picture and bio, so it does not feel like a total stranger coming into your home.

2) Diagnose and unclog

Your plumber will speak with you to understand the issue before work starts. We will first try to unclog the drain with a drain snake (also called an "auger"). If the clog remains, we'll use the drain camera to locate the blockage.

3) See for yourself

With our drain camera, we can show you in real time the location and type of blockage. From there, your plumber will discuss your repair options with you.

4) Fix and follow up

Once you've chosen a repair option, we'll repair the clog and ensure your drain flows freely. We'll call you 24 hours after the repair to make sure you're satisfied!

Education

Why do my drains keep clogging or backing up?
If you're constantly experiencing clogged drains or drain back-up in your home, consider a sewer drain camera inspection. Unfortunately, plumbing problems are not always easy to identify as the problem may lay some 50+ feet in your home's plumbing. Fortunately, there's a solution!

What is a camera drain inspection and how does it work?
In the past decade, plumbing technology and equipment has come a long way. A drain camera allows a plumber to see deep into your home's pipes without cutting into walls or digging into the ground. Once the plumber finds the problem causing your backups and clogs, they can pinpoint the obstruction and focus repairs to the affected areas—keeping damage to a minimum.

What causes drain backups and clogs?
From our 30 years of experience, we've found that the majority plumbing backups are caused by debris. These obstructions include:

  • Cooking grease
  • Food scraps
  • Paper towels
  • Hygiene products
  • Other foreign objects

Believe it not, tree roots are also one of the main contributors of of drain obstructions. Large trees on your front lawn are often in the direct path of your water line and sewer line, which connects to the city mainline.

Overtime, tree roots will begin to penetrate the joins between the piping, often crushing the piping and causing a mainline collapse. If you notice water bubbling up from your front lawn, it's most likely a sign of waterline damage. In this scenario, a trenchless waterline repair or replacement is necessary.
