Not all technicians are trained equally. Our technicians undergo weekly trainings to ensure they're up to date on building codes and the latest gas detection and repair technology. When you call Ashton, you'll get the best gas plumbers in the business, guaranteed.

Your safety concerns

A cheap contractor will only give you more problems down the road. A leaking gas pipe is very dangerous and only a certified technician should handle these types of repairs. Before you chose a contractor, ask to see their license.

How we handle emergency gas leaks

Cost to repair a gas line leak in Richmond

  • Low: $149
  • Average: $189
  • High: $299

What affects price?

Your gas pipe repair cost depends on:

  • Location of the leak. Your cost will increase if the leak is behind a wall or cabinets or buried underground.
  • Number of leaks detected. The more leaks you have, the more you'll pay to fix them.
  • Length of gas line or fittings that needs to be replaced. You'll pay more to fix longer lines or lines with more fittings.

Reviews

"Always meet our high expectations"

Mark P was outstanding. We use Ashton all the time and they always meet our high expectations. Mark made suggestions that helped with the gas line install we were doing in our back yard and the price was exactly as quoted. We have referred Ashton to friends previously and will do so again in the future!!

How do I know if there is a gas leak?
If you smell rotten eggs in your home, you might have a gas leak. Pure natural gas is difficult to detect because it has no smell. For this reason, hydrogen sulfide is added to natural gas, so the gas has a distinct odor (like rotten eggs) and can be easily detected if it leaks.

What to do if you smell rotten eggs or hear a gas leak:

  1. Stop what you're doing. Do not use your cellphone or landline, smoke, light matches, operate electrical switches or do anything else that can create a spark.
  2. Go outside. As you exit, open any windows along the way and leave the door open behind you.
  3. Call for help. Once you're outside, call 911 and then FortisBC’s 24-hour emergency line at 1-800-663-9911.

How do I find the gas leak?
If you suspect you have a gas leak, don't attempt to find or repair the leak. A professional will use a combustible gas detector, often called a "gas sniffer", which is a handheld electronic device that detects the presence of gases. The gas sniffer is extremely sensitive to even the smallest traces of gases that would be undetectable to the human nose. This tool allows technicians to pinpoint the leak's location and severity.
